Wordful
Dedicated to Pablo Neruda
by Larry Jaffe

He rooted
the kabala
from the grave
 –stood on it
to practice
his magic…

He was not a
religious man
nor did he
consider
himself at all
mystical.

Still when the
time came…

He would raise
hands in majestic
fashion and apply
eloquence to the
universe.

People listened
as drowned
the acrimony of
of a planet gone
mad.

He was
a simple man
walking the world
with alacrity

He formed
new found
verbs
and nouns
as daily ritual.

He was a poet and no one
could take his
words away…
