An Adventure with Annie
(In memory of Annie Jenkin)
by Jack Horne

One wet Wednesday,
you in your yellow slicker,
the only sun I saw!

We caught the train to Cornwall
and made our way to St Michael's Mount:

across the cobbled walkway
at lucky low tide,
up the island's steep sides,
smelling flowers, admiring shrubs,
making for the monastery in its tall majesty.

And the sun started shining!

We stopped for scones and sipped tea
by then the tide was high,
thus the bobbing boat back

and a smiley, sleepy train trip home …
