Sun Drenched Eyes
by Deborah Russell

I am awakened
in a dream,
the Mediterranean sun
rises over palms...

Suddenly I drown
in deep, distant
reverberations
living resonations
of his primitive drums.

His kofe voice so rich
and aromatic
pours rich, thick and sweet.

His lips dissolve my skin
and warms my tongue.

A perfumed breeze gathers -
sifts silently through
the desert land.

It whispers above the sea
to white doves -
calls them to alight

I kiss sun drenched eyes.

The curtain veil
is drawn gently to the side
reveals his daylight beauty

In the dream of desert flowers
we whirl among new images
of colour, light and sky.
