Colorblind
by Marcel Aime Duclos
After the acrylic painting by Paulette Demers Turco

The meandering tidal river welcomes,
comforts,
invites to a quiet late afternoon,
to a pause by a stand of firs.

The pastel-colored sky captures,
stuns,
offers a color pallet,
teases the colorblind.

Will the children out of sight
label the scene,
assign Crayola-Crayon names
to clouds, flowers, trees, and fields?

The tidal river disappears,
folds into the horizon.
Will a storm chase away the children,
leave a colorblind poet without labels?
