August in Taos
by Sharmagne Leland-St. John

In the city we dreamt of
A dreamy, long, delicious afternoon...
Picnicking on the banks of the Rio Grande.
Wetting lines when the hatch is on the rise.
But now we are told not to fish the Rio below Questa.
The trout are full of molybdenum
From the mining up there.
So on a dreamy, long, delicious afternoon
We'll fish the smaller streams
Between Taos and Cimarron.
See what the rainbows are snacking on...
Find the perfect fly to replicate
The ones that pique their interest.

On this dreamy long delicious afternoon
We are just happy to be away from the smog
And noise of the city
