At the Edge of the Meadow
by Sharmagne Leland-St.John
At the edge of the meadow
Darkness descends
Fat black crickets chirp
Another day ends
At the edge of the meadow
A lark trills its song
A great horned owl hoots
All night long
At the edge of the meadow
With the moon riding high
The breeze through the trees
Creates a mournful sigh
At the edge of the meadow
Night sounds are gone
Sunrise paints the sky
For a colourful dawn
At the edge of the meadow
