Carolers
by Gerald A. McBreen

Soft ring of bells, song books
held in gloved hands
cheeks aglow from frosty air
a scene out of long ago
repeated for a time in need.

Voices caroling door to door
fill the ear with sounds of joy.
A signal to neighbors
they'll soon be there
singing in the frosty air.

Standing in lightly falling snow
they look like imitation art
of a long ago
Christmas card.
