Long May You Reign
by Mark Fleisher

Monarch of your domain
resplendent in regal robes
of orange trimmed in
black and white still
vibrant after an arduous
journey to your preserve
affording shelter while
north winds blow cold

Yes, where you dwell
is deemed sacred land
but eager onlookers
invade your privacy
greedy loggers flout
the law, seeking
to strip pine and oak
from forests where
you congregate before
returning home
once again temperate
