Silent Night
by Mark Fleisher

December night,
stars still,
moon silent,
wind hushed,
falling snowflakes
almost heard

Tracks of rabbits,
deer, maybe coyote,
embedded without
a whisper
on white blankets

Holiday lights
blurred by stealthy frost
on opaque window panes,
all sound suspended
in midnight chill
