Snow Markers
by A. David Abraham

Brittle, Bitter;
Frigid, Freezing;
Ice Blue, Crystallized Clusters;
Lumps of coal bearing
diamonds
In weakening lights
of mid-winter noon sun

Another crunch of the path
Another footprint leaving signs
Of one’s presence in the world
The Way one takes
The Path one trods
To ask oneself
What way have I walked?

Another moment,
a step in the process
Never-ending, at times
insurmountably unsustainable
Fighting against Fight
All the fights of Life

Through crystal rock
Marked by prints in
Adamantine snow
