Ojo Caliente ~ New Mexico ~ by Sharmagne Leland-St. John

Rooted Fast
by Vaughn Neeld

Hand in hand, the black gums stand
facing toward the river.
In summer fair or winter bare,
they lean into each other.
They're rooted fast,
and each will last
as long as they stay together.
At their feet, a summer seat
welcomes all who choose to gather.
