Ojo Caliente ~ New Mexico ~ by Sharmagne Leland-St. John

Snow at Ojo Caliente
by Priscilla Turner Spada

As snow sifts softly through the night,
coating amber earth with white,
shrubs are cloaked in a cold embrace,
while twisted twigs enmesh like lace.
The river curls to left and right.

The springs are bubbling nearby this site,
steaming hot in the early light;
as cold meets warm, a hiss takes place
as snow sifts softly.

For eons, ancient sacred rites
have offered healing, and invite
a respite and a breathing space,
for seekers to slow down their pace.
They step into the heat and light,
as snow sifts softly.
