Joy to the World
by Annie Jenkin

Night's ebony and silver glows
reflecting upon roof tops
as change flickers into life.

When wind whispers its secrets
through the city’s arteries,
homes alight with happiness.

People in shelters,
and families brought together
to celebrate Christmas Day.

Night workers bless the morning,
and day staff smile their greetings
to all who work their shift.

This day is different, worries
ease back; joy slips in
to greet a world wishing for peace.
