Christmas Lights
by Robert Walton

And seashells
Are much the same–
Sunrise red,
Sea ice blue,
Amber as pools
Beneath redwoods,
Emerald as new grass
On the third day of rain,
And silver as the
Rain.
They rest
Where chance tides
Or human whimsy
Have left them,
And shine with the starlight
Of children’s laughter.
