Sunrise by Sharmagne Leland-St.John
Promise
by MFrostDelaney
A sunrise in the midst of clouds brings hope,
especially when a new snow covers ground
and clouds retreat into a distant view.
It’s hibernation mode for summer things.
The growing season gathers in to rest,
submitting all its will to sacred sleep –
the plumage of new growth and green elope,
away to stay, let quietness be gowned
in virgin white, horizon soft gray-blue.
They call it winter, atmosphere that springs
into a crisp, fresh air – this scene that’s pressed
into a lens, then splayed for eyes to keep,
to know that storms will pass, with them the fear
that’s felt at times. New days will draw us clear.
