A Very Special Month
by Gay Williford
December with its frosty air
and festive atmosphere
descended on our home
like a sudden, welcome shower.
Ornaments and Christmas cards erupted
from boxes, tinsel, colored lights
and candy canes embellished the fir,
while candles glowed cozily, bows topped presents,
and well-loved carols were hummed everywhere.
Our parlor was magically transformed
into a stage of warm anticipation.
In other places generosity, smiles and caring
seemed more prevalent and people more tolerant.
May the spirit of this month touch hearts deeply,
spreading a lasting, kindness and peace
often missing in the rest of the year.
