Sunrise, by Sharmagne Leland-St. John

Winter Sunrise
by Gay Williford

Pale blue shades paint the dawn
evoking shivery chills.
Low-lying clouds huddle
above the dark horizon
threatening to roll forward
and bring a storm to this crop land.
A newly risen white sun
pierces the gray overhead sky,
seeming to dare any downburst to develop.
A snowy road curves into the distance
luring the curious traveler to embark
and journey around the next bend.
