From Darkness Comes the Snow
by Mark Fleisher

The light comes earlier now
casting its glow upon
a dusting of fresh snow
newly fallen in darkness

The soft, fluffy variety
soon blown by howling winds,
drifting across a country road,
covering an urban sidewalk

A dusting of fresh snow
perhaps intensifying
when the white blanket
is measured in feet

Then I shall be content,
clearing condensation
from window panes to
marvel at the magic before me
