Ten Koans from a Marriage
by Wayne Lee

Our life together
is three pounds of flax.

We do not carry stones
in our mind

or mourn bathwater
on the ground.

We lie together
but we do not lie.

We drink tea
from empty cups.

We have no attachment
to dust

and we agree our dog
has Buddha nature.

When we play music
we disappear.

We take off our robes
at the sound of the bell.

Ours is the sound
of four hands clapping.
