Let’s Switch to Dance
by Wilda Morris

Now your hearing is so bad
you’ve decided not to renew
our theater reservation,
let’s buy season tickets
to the ballet. Let our eyes
hear the stories the dancers tell
as they slide, leap and spiral
across the stage.

And take me square dancing
once a month, do-si-do,
bow to your partner
and all that. The caller
will project his voice
so we can follow. I like
the feel of a skirt ballooning
when I twirl. I like
ending up in your arms.
