Where Love Takes Us
by Gail Denham

Love pulls us so many ways. We’re
up and down in emotion, pestered
with pangs of misplaced jealousy,
torn into bits when love is rejected.

Often over the moon. Sometimes jumping crazy
over park benches, or slumped like a wind-whipped
deck chair upside down, on the front porch.

In love, we’re pulled to sacrifices; we forge
past mistakes, celebrate when love holds us close
for half a century; but most of all, we continue
to take leaps of faith into thin air.
