Chocolate Strawberry Hearts
from the kitchen of Sharmagne Leland-St.John

I decided to “test drive” one of the recipes from the link below.

I sliced the biggest strawberry in the container almost in half.  First, I used my super clean fingernail to remove the green stem.  Then I made a slice from top to bottom making certain not to cut all the way through.

Next, I opened the two sides to form a heart and set it down on parchment paper.  Waxed paper is another good option.

I had a bag of Baker’s chocolate  chips in the pantry.

I put them into a saucepan and tried to melt them over a low heat.  They kept clumping and refused to melt, so I tried putting them over a double boiler (Another saucepan with water in it.)

That still didn’t seem to be helping so I poured a little bit of the boiling water into the chocolate while stirring, and voila, it became the consistency I needed and the flavor stayed intact.

Always test these recipes ahead of your proposed meals or events to avoid frustration and mishaps on the big day!
