My Life is Like an Antique Pin
by Sharmagne Leland-St. John

My life is like an antique pin
That has a broken clasp
There are things I can't explain to you
Things you would not grasp
It's not that I don't love you
It's not that I don't care
It's not a question now of how
Or why or when or where

We both know that I love you
We both know you love me
You know it's not my heart, babe
That's longing to be free
It's somewhere in my soul
Or something on my mind
That's trying to find
The kind of life
I felt I left behind

Our life is like a crystal ball
It's cloudy now it's clear
I won't accept the sorrow
I can't live with the fear
You sigh and cry and say
This couldn't be the end
But deep inside you know I'm here
If you ever need a friend
You've got to just accept it
It's time for us to part
And now is the time for going
Before you break my heart
