Do You Remember
by Sharmagne Leland-St. John
Do you remember
When I used to touch your heart
Reaching out to grasp the love
You could not give
All the time I was a part
Of every day you ever lived
Reaching out to touch the sunshine
Reaching out to hold the rain
Do you remember the days
When I was every song you ever sang
We knew that we were destined
To run and dance beside the wind
In our hour glass of life,
The sand was flowing thin
I remember when I held you to my breast
And asked if you could ever love me, yes
But like the clock that ticked away the stolen time
Our poetry of love would never rhyme
I placed a hard heart against the painful sorrow
Because I had to leave you
And I knew you would not follow
Reaching out to touch the sunshine
Reaching out to hold the rain
Do you remember the days
When I was every song you ever sang
Do you remember
When I used to touch your heart
Reaching out to grasp,
The love you could not give
All the times I was a part
of every moment you ever lived
