Haiku-the Four Seasons
by Judith K. Witherow

first born birds of spring
preen their unruly feathers
in search of a mate

mother's day roses
weep their red velvet petals
capturing my grief

squirrels at feeder
scatter weed seeds that will sprout
mocking store bought plants

the pinto pony
sensing a winter snowstorm
paws the frozen earth
