Cranberry Cordial
from the kitchen of Sharmagne Leland-St. John

1 pound cranberries, coarsely chopped
2 cups sugar
1 cup water
½ cup brandy or cognac
Vodka to fill

Take an empty 1 liter vodka bottle. Chop the
cranberries and “feed” them into the bottle. In
a medium saucepan combine sugar and water.
Bring to a boil, stirring, until sugar has dissolved.
Slowly pour over the cranberries in the bottle.
Add the brandy or cognac. Fill with the vodka.
Replace cap securely.

Place the bottle in a cool, dark place. Invert
and shake it every day for six weeks. Strain the
cordial into bottles and seal with corks. You may
use a few of the strained cranberries over ice cream
or as a garnish for pudding.

NOTE:
I use either Titos Handmade Vodka from BevMo or Monopolowa
which I buy at Trader Joe’s. My brandy of choice for recipes
is E&J. found in most supermarkets and America’s Most Award
Winning Brandy. Sometimes I just use whatever is left over
in the Courvoisier bottle.

This recipe contains alcohol which can cause birth defects.
Remember to drink responsibly
