8 Haiku
by Diane Dehler

first frost of winter
chrysanthemum white petals
ices pierces a heart

all night our breath
watching petals fall from this gold creature
chrysanthemum!

chrysanthemum shrine
word offerings are a poet’s gold
autumn, this flower

chrysanthemum on fire
ravishing self I offer you gold
and burn on a pyre.

unsheathing bloom
Lord of the Chrysanthemum
a gold mind strikes

tears frosted over
stalks of a dead chrysanthemum
my youngest sister

spring orchid too large
shy, heart hides under white cloud
a fragrant longing

my snow blossom tree
was born to weep white petals
a lonely spring path
