A Mantilla of Crows

Hoar frost coats the bare winter branches with fine,
fairy lace making them delicate ladies of pure

complexion. As one, a hundred crows
light on the lace covered shoulders

of a solitary tree. Before I can raise my
camera, the mantilla lifts itself and moves

to drape a nearby tree in majestic beauty
of black on white Spanish filigree.
