Winter Moment at a Vermont Inn
by Sally Nacker

Near a window, a silver spoon rests
on a saucer beside a white teacup.
An old, oak rocking chair
is still. Winter’s evening sun
touches each a little.

As the moon reflects the setting sun,
the objects glow, and deepen.
In dark, snow-quiet air,
I simply stare
at spoon, saucer, cup, and rocking chair.
