Black-Eyed Peas
from the kitchen of Sharmagne Leland-St.John

15 ½ ounce can of black-eyed peas
1 tablespoon bacon drippings
2 slices crisp bacon, crumbled
1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
½ teaspoon sugar
5 okra pickles, sliced
Crushed red pepper, to taste
 

Place all of the above ingredients into a saucepan and simmer on low heat for 15 minutes.
