Cardinal on Snowy Branches by Helen ONeal

I shiver in the snow and cold,
by Lenora Rain-Lee Good

all is white, blindingly so
gray and black hold up the white

a three-dimensional old-time photo.
I long for sepia tones, no dark

glasses required. Snow squeaks
as I step, exhalations add silver

fog as I walk. And then, flame-bright
movement flits through the air,

a red Cardinal blesses me,
makes me smile, makes me warm.
