How Thin the Veil Between the Worlds
by Marcel Duclos

What keeps you here
after the first snow?

All that is left for you
hangs in the backyard tree.
Have you noticed
that your red cape
glows sparkling wet?

Are you Medardo Mazombwe,
champion of the despised,
deceased cardinal of Lusaka,
dear fearless friend
come to nudge me awake
in this season of Herod?

Is that you Medardo?
