Blossoms In My Hair
by Deborah Russell

beneath this starlit sky
above these undulating sands
i'm dressed in pure white silk
with magnolias in my hands

i wear gold and silver ankle bells
that echo life within each step
they gently grasp and hold
the scattered
light of  fading moon

i want to sway to guedra drums
with blue blossoms in my hair
that will spin a pungent fragrance
in sirocco winds

i close my eyes to see such wonders
and hear whispers of exotic lands
the voice of nature
converses with the scents
of evening air

i read the  testaments of ancient times
written on slowly rising tides
the earth revolves,  dissolves
beneath its foamy clouds,
and with it all
the awkward movements
of my feet and hands.
