Driving While Intoxicated
by Dave Warner

On an empty moon highway,
she clicks on the dome light
to check the map
and I'm startled by her beauty.

Our eyes intersect,
and with a glowing smile
she asks

I shake my head.
She knows this road.

"It won't be much farther",
she tells me,

but it no longer matters,
and I take one hand
off the wheel.
