Taos Sky
by Sharmagne Leland-St.John
after the photograph by the author
Summer storm came up fast
I knew this heat spell wouldn't last.
We gathered up our picnic things
And waited for what Taos weather brings.
We ran for shelter to the car
Luckily it wasn't far.
Rooftop pelted by the rain
As it fell upon the darkling plain.
The sky was streaked with reds and greys
Yet in the distance sunny rays;
Which left no doubt
By four o'clock the sun came out!
