My Shadows

I walked in the night
On a cold sidewalk
Under streetlights
Seeing my shadow lengthen
As I walked
The light gave me a second shadow
Within the first
And then a third
I looked over my shoulder
To see where the shadows ended
Knowing they would be hiding
As I walked away from the light
My shadows disappeared
I imagined them
Dancing
Somewhere
Under the sidewalk
