At the Edge of Shangri-La
by MFrostDelaney

Where sunlight paints its pastel shades–a peach,
a pink, a maize, a cream, and moonlight lays
an onyx blue on pillars and a roof
that’s thatched … a tiny realm that waits for each
attendant soul who sees this scene as haze,
who hears its gentle din, but touch …
                                                              aloof
as fireflies that sparkle in the night.
This rest stop hosts each soul who leaves the earth
and waits–the destination not yet clear,
but hopes eternity will bring delight,
that rest is theirs to keep.
                                              For what it’s worth,
belief has paved the route that brought them here …
The atmosphere unfolds its azure ink
and beckons souls to come–
                                              there, on the brink.
