A hint of our tomorrows
by Carole Mertz
there’s a dim view of the eternal
as shyest blue pervades the scene
I want to lie within that sky
seeing castles and towers therein
what dreams will come to supplant
old horrors, what angels sustain the life
in our tomorrows? It’s a suggestion,
oh! merely a hint, of something buoyant–
viridescent green. Pretty scene, so delicate
and pale–we swim within your sheen,
a touch of life eternal, the shyest
blue signifying a life serene
