Summer
by Yingcai Xu

If
Autumn reveals golden maple leaves
Winter bears ice flowers and snowfalls
Spring bursts forth in a riot of vibrant colors
Then summer bestows upon them the pinnacle

It is in summer that the golden maple leaves
Reborn from mud, rejuvenate into lush green
They ascend tree branches, performing an earth-greening ritual

It is in summer that the ice flowers and snowfalls
Dormant in water, soar and rise anew
They gather in the heavens, poised to cleanse the earth

It is in summer that the riot of vibrant colors
Having displayed their splendor, smiles under the blazing sun
They appear everywhere, creating a splendid celebration on earth

That's why
Frogs sing loudly in the scorching summer
Cicadas chant boomingly in the blazing heat
Praising that all things have reached their prime

Summer is when the time passage has reached its zenith
Summer is when the seasonal cycle is reborn to its peak
