Man Across the Hall in the Rooming House
by Marcel Aime Duclos

door bolted shut
he begins to sing
some old cowboy
song
to the wall

a fiddle cries
wails minor chords
A         D and E
sobs        moans        laments

damn depression
farm repossessed

cotton mill now
no birds singing
lowing cattle
companion dog

i drink his song
a whiskey shot
