Artist’s Statement
by Barbara Robinette

A long time ago my art teacher told us in our final class that “A picture has to
be pleasing to the eye.”
She condensed the immense complexities of drawing
and painting an image into an attitude of simplicity.

After writing and publishing free verse poetry for over 20 years, I ran outta
words. So now I try to paint the poem. For me, watercolor painting is about
the joy of making something new that is “pleasing to the eye.” And hoping
that at least one other person likes that image too.

Perhaps we then share the beauty that is in this wonderful world.
