The Buds of Spring
by Gretta Barclay

How delicate are the buds of spring
As they peek out from their
Hibernating winter home
Where they have spent another
Long cold season

How glad they must be
To see the sun
The energy of their life
And like me, are glad
Warm weather has come
As they begin their
Presentation
With the rest of nature's
Demonstration

They must feel good
To begin again
This cycle of wondrous
Springtime …

I rejoice in this season and
The early buds of spring
Which come again

And my senses cartwheel
To think this is just the start
Of the world waking up anew
In all its showy splendor
Another season
Another Spring !
