Da Capo Al Fine

The world is verdant with life
spring foliage unfurls from wine-red
buds, luxuriating in sunlight
Mockingbirds' melodious argument
resonates through the garden
"This is my, my, my tree!"
"Oh, no! Oh, no! Oh, no!"
Air fills with the intense scent
of orange blossoms and the warm gold
to mauve to vermilion glow of April roses

The silvery hue of sweet alyssum
reminds me of sea foam on aqua waves
of the Pacific I can only admire on my laptop
until the "stay at home" orders are lifted
and beaches are as full of human life
as vibrant as my rainbow-green garden
in this war time of a strange plague
