I’ve dreamed of trees …
by Paulette Demers Turco

their regal stance,
rigid, supple,
reaching up,
branching out,
narrow, wide,
rounded, apexed,
willowy, spiny,
evergreen,
budding blooms,
berries and nuts,
shedding leaves
sheltering nests;
earth’s closest
living beings
in well-rooted
communities,
maybe able—
daring enough—
to barely touch,
infinity.
