Mineral Healing
by Melanie Claire Blinn Eulberg

After the parting
countless weeks of
shuttered gloom
she gathers her spirit’s
tattered remnants and
makes for the countryside
chasing the serenity
he had always found
some way to
devalue.

She finds the cottage
like her confidence
in disrepair
window panes missing
frames lavishly mildewed
but the unkempt garden’s
woody stock burgeons
with blossoms in
celestial shades of
hope.

She sits for an
afternoon leaning
against the warmed wall
gazing at clouds on
divergent pathways
sensing nothing
matters more
than the steadfast
spine of Cotswold
stone.
