Morning Glories
by Paulette Demers Turco

Purple petals budding open bask,
tilting toward the warming morning light,
ignorant of winter’s ice. Their task
as purple petals budding open? Bask
in vivid silent reverie en mass,
by windows opened just a crack. Delight
in purple petals budding open. Bask.
Tilt—toward the warming morning light.
