This Braided Woman
by ellen

inspired by My Braids by George Jennings
Familiar yet unfamiliar
Sagacious nature crated within

She sends power to us
Through silken reins of hair

Her dark tears spill
Forming storm clouds

A roving spirit
She grasps the map of compassion

Lets her braids drop their weight
To rest upon the earth

They form the roadmap
For a godforsaken west

Where fires ignite
And earth erupts

But faith hangs on
With one finger
