Fall Adventure
by Judi Armbruster

Fallen
leaves of many hues
crisp
the air
tinged with a hint of wood smoke
season of change
the fall of my life
old yet filled
with wonders
the changing of seasons
the joy of connecting
the excitment of seeing new places
and visiting long distance
with my little sister
in her new home
in hills of hardwoods
so different than the river life
of my own sweet home

grateful
I am
to have the capacity to wonder
and wander
even through long corridors
of massive airports
shoes in hand
flights cancelled
squeezed into tiny seats
bumping across deserts
and over the Rockies
to somewhere
I have never been before.

lucky
to be and feel
happy to greet my sister
my niece and nephew
and enjoy an adventure once again.
