Hot Mulled Wine
from the kitchen of Sharmagne Leland-St. John

2 cups apple jack
12 whole cloves
2 cinnamon sticks (plus one per mug separated)
1 lemon rind
1 orange rind
2 tablespoons sugar
1 bottle good quality red wine
nutmeg, freshly grated (optional)

Bring the sugar, apple jack, fruit rinds, 2 cinnamon
sticks, and cloves to a hearty boil, then turn off heat
and let steep for 10 minutes. Strain. Add wine. Heat
gently. Serve hot with an extra cinnamon stick in
each mug and a sprinkle of nutmeg on top.

This can also be made in a crock pot. It will give
your home a wonderful wintery aroma.
