Anachronism
by Candace Armstrong

A haven for unfulfilled dreams
rests beneath an azure sky
where blue-green trees, lush and leafy,
preside over a fallow pasture
of swaying cat tails.

Someone’s once shiny new farm truck
well-loved in rusting age
with turquoise paint, now faded,
cradles bright foliage
reaching skyward from its bed.

Color-streaked clouds puff
and shadow purple mountains,
mellow in their majesty.
Nostalgia protected and preserved
beside a long white fence.
